On Wednesday, Local 10 News spoke with Delvin King, who is the principal of Youth Under Construction -- a sixth to 12th grade school for at risk students.

He confirmed that his former student, Brice McFadden, was shot and killed outside his home in the 900 block of Lyons Road.

“He was at the top of his class and he was just here, I wanna say a couple of weeks ago, trying to pick up his transcript because he just got approved to attend Atlantic Technical (College),” King said.

Police have released very little information about the killing, but King says there is heartache at the school.

“He was a student that everybody loved – his biology teacher, the bus drivers -- he was just here,” King said.

Local 10′s Rosh Lowe walked through the school Wednesday with King and spoke with students who were mourning their former peer.

One student said he was told about the shooting is a group chat.

“We were like, ‘Wow, that’s crazy,’” he said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Coconut Creek Police Department or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-492-8477.
