Miami-Dade police take over El Taiger murder case; suspect back in South Florida

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police have officially taken over the investigation into El Taiger’s death.

The suspect in the murder of the beloved reggaetón artist, who was arrested in New York, has officially been brought back to Miami. He is charged with murder in the case.

The 37-year-old El Taiger, whose real name is Jose Manuel Zaldivar, was found shot in the back of an SUV near Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami on Oct. 3.

6 p.m. report:

For weeks, police searched for Damian Valdez Galloso, who was initially named a person of interest in the case.

He was found by police in New York City and taken into custody. He has now officially been named the primary suspect in the murder.

According to a newly released arrest report, detectives said Galloso shot El Taiger and was cleaning up the scene while his body was in the SUV.

The shooting was captured on surveillance video, according to authorities.

Local 10 was there when Galloso arrived at Miami International Airport on Wednesday.

There, we found police escorting an unmarked car off the tarmac following a New York City flight arrival.

Miami-Dade police confirm detectives served a search warrant Wednesday morning in Hialeah.

A neighbor’s cellphone video shows police at a home investigating.

Local 10 News checked into Galloso’s background and found he is a registered sex offender with a permanent address in Hialeah.

In addition to the murder case, Galloso is also being held on unrelated charges pertaining to failing to register as a sex offender.
