The exact incident location was redacted from a Miami-Dade Police Department arrest report, but an included zip code indicates it happened at a home in an unincorporated area west of Miami Gardens.
According to police, Juan Carlos Paulino stabbed the victim four times in the shoulder and torso areas, “result(ing) in a punctured colon.”
Authorities said the victim fled and Paulino followed him, knife in hand.
Police said Paulino then went back inside the home “and hid the knife in between bags of clothing.”
Nevertheless, police said they found the knife and impounded it, but not before Paulino “barricaded himself” and ignored commands to surrender himself.
Police said Paulino eventually did surrender and was taken into custody without incident.
As of Monday afternoon, Paulino was being held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evidence tampering and resisting arrest without violence.
