BSO deputies locate mother of child left at West Park daycare

WEST PARK, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies have located the mother of a young girl who they said was left at a daycare in West Park on Thursday morning.

Deputies responded to a call at Panda Little Academy, located at 3900 S.W. 40th Ave., after the girl, possibly named Malaya and estimated to be around two or three years old, was dropped off.

5 p.m. report:

Authorities reported that a man driving a dark-colored vehicle left the child at the facility and then departed.

BSO said deputies immediately launched a search for her family, releasing photos of both Malaya and the man to assist in locating her caregivers. It remains unclear who the man in the photo is or whether any charges will be filed.

They later confirmed that the girl’s parents were located but did not disclose any more details about why she was left at a daycare that she does not attend.

Parents at the facility told Local 10 News that normally, children must be signed in before they can be left behind.

“They know who is going to pick up my kids, just his dad and me,” said parent Karla Castro.

No other information about the incident has been released at this time.
