El Taiger’s manager confirmed the main person of interest in the case was taken into custody in New York City.

Police had been searching for Damian Valdez Galloso for several weeks to question him about the murder of El Taiger, whose real name was Jose Manuel Carbajal Zaldivar.

Authorities believe Galloso may have important information to help their case.

5 p.m. report:

It was back on Oct. 3 that the 37-year-old El Taiger was found shot in the back of an SUV near Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

He was shot in the head and died from his injuries less than two weeks later.

El Taiger’s manager, Marcel Reinosa, said his client was cremated and his remains were sent home to Cuba.

News of tracking Galloso down has brought hope to the rap artist’s loved ones.

“Right now, we are feeling a lot of relief,” said Reinosa. “Internally, we have been dealing with this -- the past days (have been) emotional.”

Police have not released much information about the murder or their investigation.

Galloso will likely be brought back to Miami for questioning. He is not facing any charges at this time.
