HIALEAH, Fla. – Police announced the arrests of two 22-year-old men Tuesday who they said were wanted for firing multiple gunshots at two people in a Hialeah parking lot earlier this month. Authorities say the incident may be connected to a separate shooting involving the same victim in Miami.
According to the Hialeah Police Department, the arrest of Yosmani Yerondy Rodriguez Granados comes after an Oct. 1 shooting outside the Pura Vida Condominiums on West 16th Avenue.
Investigators said around 7:45 p.m., the two victims exited the complex and walked to their parked car at a nearby lot on West 29th Street.
Moments after they entered their vehicle, a lookout, who police said had been hiding in nearby hedges, signaled to Rodriguez Granados, who then drove his vehicle to confront the victims.
According to detectives, Rodriguez Granados extended his arm out of the driver’s side window and fired several shots in the direction of the victims.
Authorities said bullets struck the front hood of the victims’ vehicle, narrowly missing them.
Rodriguez Grenados and his accomplice, identified as Dagoberto Gonzalez, fled the scene immediately afterward, and authorities launched an investigation using witness testimony, CCTV footage, and cellular data to track them down, according to the report.
Investigators say the apprehension of Rodriguez Granados on Tuesday revealed further connections to a shooting case in Miami, where one of the same victims had been targeted. Additional details on that shooting have not been disclosed.
Authorities said Hialeah police officers located Rodriguez Granados Tuesday and took him into custody without incident.
At the time of the arrest, they said he was carrying a gun in his front pocket.
Officials have not released the identities of the victims but confirmed that Rodriguez declined to provide a statement to investigators following his arrest.
Authorities in both Hialeah and Miami are now collaborating on the cases, with investigators working to determine if the incidents were connected by motive or if the suspect has ties to other unsolved shootings in the area.
Additional charges may be filed as authorities in Miami pursue their own investigation into the earlier shooting involving the same victim.
Jail records show Rodriguez Granados is facing one count each of first-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon, shooting or throwing a deadly missile and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
They also show that Gonzalez is being held on an immigration hold on charges of second-degree attempted murder with a firearm or deadly weapon.
As of Tuesday, both men remain at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where their bond was listed as “to be set.”
Local 10 News has requested Gonzalez’s arrest report.
Anyone with information on either shooting is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
