KENDALL, Fla. – A 47-year-old man was arrested Sunday after he admitted to shooting his ex-wife at her home in Kendall, authorities said.
Jail records show Pedro Nunez, of Miami, is facing one count of attempted felony murder.

According to an arrest report, Nunez and the victim have a 10-year-old son in common.
Miami-Dade police said a tenant who lives in an efficiency at the victim’s residence in the 6200 block of Southwest 109th Avenue called 911 shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday after noticing that the front door of the main home was open and then discovering a large amount of blood on the floor when he opened the door to the efficiency.
According to the arrest report, officers arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in her bedroom, located in the main part of the house.
“While going in and out of consciousness, the victim was able to state the name of her ex-husband and told them he shot her,” the report stated.
According to the report, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. She sustained gunshot wounds to her torso, extremities and buttocks.
Police said she has since undergone surgery and remains in critical but stable condition. Another surgery is scheduled for Monday.
According to Miami-Dade police, during the investigation Sunday, the Hialeah Police Department received a 911 call from Nunez, who told them he was involved in a shooting in Kendall.
Hialeah police took Nunez into custody and it was discovered that he was involved in the shooting that left the woman severely injured, authorities said.
Miami-Dade police confirmed that the suspect was then transferred to their custody before being booked into jail.
The gun used in the shooting was also recovered, authorities said.
According to the arrest report, Nunez confessed to arguing with his ex-wife and shooting her in a hallway near the door that leads to the efficiency, which had been locked and screwed shut.
Police said Nunez told detectives that he shot the victim about four times and stopped shooting when her body fell toward the door, causing it to break open and the victim to fall inside the efficiency.
Nunez said he then fled the scene and called his father to tell him that he had just killed his ex-wife as he believed she was dead, according to the report.
As of Monday morning, Nunez was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond had yet to be set.
