HIALEAH, Fla. – A 39-year-old woman from Hialeah was arrested Sunday after police say her elderly mother accused her and her boyfriend of abuse.

According to an arrest report from the Hialeah Police Department, the victim called 911 Sunday to report that her daughter, Maritza Mazaira, abuses her verbally and physically.

Police said the victim claimed that Mazaira has repeatedly pushed her in order to enter her bedroom and ransack it, looking for valuables.

The woman claimed her daughter’s boyfriend, Francisco Alejandro Fernandez, 34, has also entered her bedroom without permission and gone through her belongings.

According to the arrest report, the victim claimed that both Mazaira and Fernandez have verbally abused her, constantly offending her and telling her that they own her house.

Police said the suspects’ actions have caused the victim emotional distress to the point where she often locks herself in her bedroom because she is in fear of them.

According to the report, the victim believes both suspects are waiting for her to die so they can keep her house and property.

Police said the victim claimed that on Saturday, Mazaira threw her plate of food on the floor as she was eating.

The victim then locked herself in her bedroom and Mazaira then threw a ceramic ornament against the door, authorities said.

Police said when the victim finally opened her bedroom door, Mazaira pushed her mother in an attempt to get inside her room.

According to the report, Mazaira’s daughter provided police with video that shows her mother looking through the victim’s drawers after the victim repeatedly asked her to leave the room.

Police said Mazaira denied that she had ever pushed her mother.

Still, she was arrested on one count of elderly abuse.

As of Monday afternoon, Mazaira remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $1,000 bond and Fernandez, who was listed as a co-defendant in the arrest report, remained at large.
