Police: Man in custody after woman found shot inside Kendall home

KENDALL, Fla. – A man was taken into custody Sunday after a woman was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside of a home in Kendall, authorities said.

According to Miami-Dade police, officers responded to a “suspicious incident” shortly after 3:30 a.m. at a home in the 6200 block of Southwest 109th Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found an open door to the residence and a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound, authorities said.

Police said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue also responded and transported the victim to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in stable condition.

According to Miami-Dade police, the Hialeah Police Department received a 911 call a short time later from a man who told them he was involved in a shooting in Kendall.

Hialeah police took the man into custody and it was discovered that he was involved in Sunday morning’s shooting, authorities said.

Miami-Dade police confirmed that the suspect has since been transferred to their custody.

His identity, nor the identity of the victim, has been released.

“The MDPD’s Special Victim’s Unit, Domestic Violence detectives have assumed the investigation,” a MDPD spokesperson told Local 10 News in an email. “At this time we do not have their identities, the familial ties, nor any additional information.”
