Police: Broward reckless drivers precede fatal shooting along Sheridan Street

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A man died on Saturday after police officers found him wounded in a crashed Nissan Altima in Broward County, police said.

According to Capt. Adam Feiner, a spokesman for the Pembroke Pines Police Department, police officers responded to a report of a shooting shortly before 1 a.m., in Pembroke Pines.

“The driver was immediately transported to a nearby hospital,” Feiner wrote, adding the man later died.

The crime scene was along Sheridan Street near Northwest 118 Avenue. Feiner reported detectives learned there were two reckless drivers along Sheridan Street before the fatal shooting.

“It was so loud, it woke up everyone in my house,” Jason Phipher, who lives nearby, said.

Surveillance video did not capture the shooting, but in it, you can hear a barrage of gunfire.

“I was in my bed when I heard three gunshots,” Phipher said.

The noise startled people living nearby who were asleep. They say violence is unusual in this typically quiet neighborhood.

Feiner asked anyone with information about the shooting to call 954-431-2200 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous.
