Man convicted of murdering high schooler over Yeezy sneakers gets life sentence after outburst

Victim’s father: ‘There is no forgiveness on this earth for animals like you’

MIAMI – A judge gave a 23-year-old man convicted of murdering a Miami-Dade high schooler during a sneaker sale in 2020 a life sentence Friday.

But Adrian Cosby went on the attack before learning his fate.

Cosby, along with George Walton, were both 19 when they shot and killed 18-year-old Andrea Camps Lacayo in southwest Miami-Dade as she and her boyfriend tried to sell Yeezy sneakers in April 2020. Walton was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in February.

Camps Lacayo attended Terra Environmental Research Institute and had been accepted to Florida International University, where she wanted to pursue a nursing degree.

In court, her father, Alexander Camps, told Cosby, “There is no forgiveness on this earth for animals like you.”

“There is only one place animals like you belong and that’s in prison for the rest of your life,” Camps said.

That prompted Cosby to burst out of his seat towards the victim’s family.

The judge later handed down the life sentence.
