Jennifer Messemer-Skold, the communications manager with the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department, said the overflow occurred around 9 p.m., sending process water into an adjacent residential street near the 6800 block of Southwest 87th Avenue.

She said temporary repairs were made overnight, with permanent repairs underway Thursday morning.

She also confirmed that the county’s insurance company found no damage to homes in the area and reported no significant environmental impact. Drinking water quality and services remain unaffected, according to officials.

Sky 10 captured aerial footage of the area near Southwest 68th Street and 87th Avenue just after 10 a.m. Thursday, showing workers addressing the flooding.

Cellphone video from Local 10 viewer Andrew Gil showed water flowing into a nearby neighborhood.

Officials reported that their liability and assessment team spoke with residents and nearby roads have since reopened following the incident.
