Police ID man accused of stabbing roommate in Miami Gardens

MAIMI GARDENS, Fla. – Police identified a man Thursday who they said stabbed his male roommate during an argument in Miami Gardens on Tuesday night.

According to an arrest report from the Miami Gardens Police Department, 57-year-old Vincent Lenard Dukes is facing one count of aggravated battery with a weapon causing great bodily harm.

According to Miami Gardens police, officers responded to a call just after 8:30 p.m. at a residence regarding an aggravated battery involving a “cutting instrument.”

Upon arrival, officers said they found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the left side of his chest.

The victim told police that his roommate stabbed him following a heated argument, the report stated.

Authorities said Dukes admitted to striking the victim with a knife after being read his Miranda rights.

Investigators said both men share the residence, “but do not live together as a family unit.”

Police confirmed the victim was treated for his injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Police have not disclosed what caused the argument.

Jail records show Dukes was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Facility as of Thursday morning. His bond was listed as “to be set.”
