Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue helps woman deliver baby on side of the road

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue helped deliver a baby girl on the side of the road on Tuesday morning.

A woman went into labor on the side of the road at Southwest 12th Court and 17th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale as her sister was trying to get her to Broward Health Medical Center.

Deputy Chief Garrett Pingol assessed Jade Turner and Fort Lauderdale Police was getting ready to escort her to the hospital, but the baby could not wait.

Baby Genesis was born in the back of the rescue truck.

“I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to have had this experience. This is once in a lifetime. I have a daughter, but it didn’t happen how her birth happened. It’s like you see these happen on the TV,” said Jade Turner, new mother.

Both mom and baby were checked out and are doing just fine.
