MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A Miami man was arrested Sunday after he was caught red-handed stealing boxes of cigarettes from a semi-truck while the truck was stopped at a red light, authorities said.
According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Police Department, two officers were in the area of Northwest 82nd Street and North Miami Avenue when they saw two men jumping off a 53-foot trailer at the traffic light, picking up boxes from the ground and placing the boxes in a black Audi that was occupied by an unknown driver.

Police said the officers followed the vehicle, which flipped over and crashed in the area of Northwest 82nd Street and Sixth Avenue.
According to the report, the three culprits jumped out of the car and ran off, but officers were able to detain one of the men – 46-year-old Campbell Dorvilier, who they said was one of the two men who was spotted jumping off the trailer.
Police confirmed that the Audi contained multiple boxes of cigarettes that had been stolen from the trailer.
The truck driver told police 135 cartons of cigarettes had been stolen in all, which have an estimated value of $10,800.
According to the report, Dorvilier denied having any involvement in the theft and claimed that he had been walking from Checkers and didn’t know why he was being arrested.
The arrest report shows Dorvilier faces charges of grand theft of cargo, burglary and resisting an officer without violence.
As of Monday afternoon, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He is being held without bond due to an armed robbery/carjacking charge from another case.
