MIAMI – A 29-year-old woman is facing a first-degree felony charge after Miami police said she viciously attacked a senior walking in the city’s Little Havana neighborhood Thursday.
Police said at around 10:40 a.m., Cassandra Josephine Nieves first approached another woman who was waiting for food at La Esquina del Pan con Bistec restaurant at 1190 W. Flagler St. and punched her multiple times after yelling, “You raped him, I know you did.”
Authorities said Nieves, who is homeless, then walked down West Flagler Street, came upon a 66-year-old woman and punched her “several times” in the face, causing her to fall.
An arrest report states that Nieves then got on top of the woman and punched her more.
Then, police said Nieves “grabbed her by her sweater and dragged her all over the ground,” causing injuries to the senior’s knees and legs.
Police found her at the intersection of West Flagler Street and Sixth Avenue and arrested her on charges of aggravated battery on a person 65 or older and misdemeanor battery.
Jail records listed her as being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Friday morning. Her bond hadn’t yet been set.
