Broward man on probation for having child sex abuse images caught again, cops say

Alexander Moncada (BSO)

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A South Florida man arrested in 2020 for possessing in upwards of 1,000 child sexual abuse images and videos is in trouble again for the very same crime, authorities said.

Alexander Moncada, 23, of Pompano Beach, pleaded no contest in 2022 to a dozen charges related to child sexual abuse material. He was sentenced to a decade of probation and forced to register as a sex offender.

Court documents show that following his August 2020 arrest for possessing and sharing illicit photos and videos, he told Pembroke Pines police detectives to “lock me up,” telling them that he should be “punished” and saying “it is the only way (I) will learn.”

However, on Thursday, Broward County deputies again took him into custody on accusations that he was back to sharing child sexual abuse content online.

This time, authorities said the chat app Kik reported to authorities that a user with the same IP address had uploaded 50 files of child sexual abuse material to the platform in July and August.

A Broward detective wrote in an arrest report that a review of the files showed children as young as 1 “being sexually abused or lewdly displaying their genitals.”

Authorities said Moncada also had several cartoons “that depict children in sexual poses/situations.”

Moncada is again facing a dozen charges: 11 related to the possession of child sexual abuse material and a probation violation.

He was being held in the Broward Main Jail as of Friday afternoon.
