FBI raids $4.8 million home in Aventura’s exclusive Island Estates neighborhood

AVENTURA, Fla. – FBI agents conducted an early-morning raid on an exclusive private island community in Aventura on Wednesday.

The FBI confirmed it conducted “court-ordered law enforcement activity” in the area of 3914 Island Estates Drive, located in the gated community of the same name.

Agency officials said little else, including what the investigation relates to.

Local 10 News learned the raid was part of a sophisticated investigation into a drug smuggling ring.

3 p.m. report:

Mounds of cocaine and methamphetamine were seized earlier this year in California as part of the investigation.

According to the 52-page indictment, the defendants ran and operated a sophisticated network, allegedly coordinating the transport of bulk cocaine and meth from California to Canada.

Video shared with Local 10 News showed a large law enforcement presence on the ground and on the water.

Records show the sprawling 6,697 sq. ft. home was sold for $4.8 million in 2020.

More details are expected to be released in the coming days.
