Man in 60s caught in crosshairs of Miami drive-by shooting

MIAMI – Crime scene tape blocked the corner parking lot for USave Fish & Chicken & Smoke Shop after two men were injured during a drive-by shooting on Friday in Miami’s Model City neighborhood.

According to Officer Michael Vega, a spokesman for the Miami Police Department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at about 9 a.m., at the corner of Northwest Seventh Avenue and 69th Street. Police officers found one man had been shot in the abdomen and the other in the leg.

Police said a black sports utility vehicle drove by after the shooting. The victim who was shot in the leg was an innocent bystander working as a delivery man, police said. Police gathered evidence next to a Clear Fruit delivery truck.

Miami Fire Rescue personnel took the victims to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Their condition was stable, police said. Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
