CORAL GABLES, Fla. – A University of Miami student is facing a felony charge after police said she threatened to bomb a campus building on Monday.

According to an arrest report, the FBI tipped off Coral Gables police that Elizabeth Burkly, 19, posted the threat to Instagram. The social media platform’s owner, Meta, had reported the threat to the FBI, police said.

Authorities said the New Jersey-born Burkly, who lives on the UM campus, posted a photo of the Cox Science Building with the caption, “Take in the view cause I’m bombing it tomorrow.”

The report states that detectives went to Burkly’s dorm room at the school’s Lakeside Village complex, located at 1280 Stanford Drive, and questioned her about the post.

It states that when asked if she knew why police were there, Burkly told detectives, “Not really,” but then made a confession, which was redacted from the report.

Police said they impounded her electronic devices.

Burkly, facing a charge of written threats to kill or do bodily injury, was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $3,500 bond as of Tuesday afternoon, jail records show.
