Fort Lauderdale police said James Ortibez, 39, was riding his bicycle around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2015, near the 900 block of Northwest 13th Street, when a car struck him, knocking him off his bike and into the street.

Investigators said the driver of the car -- a gold four-door Volkswagen CC -- then took off without stopping to help.

According to authorities, the car was recovered two days after the crash after it was abandoned in Hollywood.

Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call the Fort Lauderdale Police Department or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
