Woman found dead in street following apparent hit-and-run in Davie

‘She had a heart of gold’: Loved ones of victim shocked, saddened by sudden loss

DAVIE, Fla. – The body of a woman was found lying in a roadway in Davie Friday morning, and authorities believe she was the victim of a hit-and-run crash.

According to Davie police, the victim was found dead shortly after 6 a.m. in the 2500 block of South Flamingo Road.

The woman has been identified by family members as Nicole Bobb.

Her mother, Liz Bobb, spoke with Local 10 News’ Andrew Perez.

“She was a great person, she’s going to be missed by everybody, especially her mom and dad,” she said. “She had a heart of gold. We’re just in shock that someone would hit her and leave her lying in the middle of the road.”

Police said they had received reports about a person lying in the roadway. When officers arrived, they said they found the deceased victim.

6 p.m. report:

Lori Koons had known Bobb for 15 years and says they had been dating romantically for the past five months.

“My heart is completely shattered,” she said. “I did not think I would lose her yhe morning she left and 30 minutes later she’s dead.”

According to police, it appears that the victim was struck by a car, but detectives do not have any information about the suspect vehicle at this time.

All northbound lanes of Flamingo Road at the 2500 block were shut down due to the investigation.

That stretch of Flamingo Road, just south of the 595 Expressway, has no street lights or traffic lights nearby.

Glenn Ebright with Broward Sunshine Property Services told Local 10 News he tells his landscaping workers to go different routes just to avoid the area, knowing its been chaotic for years.

“There’s been several terrible bad accidents and there should be a light there,” he said. “All the new homes there, homes across the street, a lot of things have changed in the last 20 years since they made that road.”

The stretch of roadway is so dangerous that Bobb’s family said she was actually hit by a car about a month ago as well.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Davie Police Department at 954-693-8200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
