Suspect driving stolen truck arrested after leading cops on chase in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ Officers took a man into custody after a police chase came to a crashing end in northwest Miami-Dade County on Wednesday.

It was around 5:20 p.m. when a Miami-Dade police officer conducted a traffic stop after being notified to a stolen white pickup truck by a License Plate Reader in the area of Northwest 83rd Street and 9th Avenue.

Itā€™s during that traffic stop that officers said the driver reversed, narrowly missing an officer and hitting a marked police car.

That set off a pursuit, with a Miami-Dade aviation unit losing sight of the truck and then spotting it again at different points before things eventually came to a crashing end near the intersection of Northwest 75th Street and 32nd Avenue.

A witness told Local 10 News that the driver jumped out and tried to run away but was quickly taken into custody by officers.

One person was treated for injuries by fire rescue crews.

Police have yet to identify the driver who was behind the wheel of the stolen truck.
