Miami police officers surround SUV outside hospital, find wounded man

Fire rescue personnel takes wounded man to trauma center

MIAMI – Miami police officers surrounded a black Mercedes-Benz sports utility vehicle on Thursday morning, after finding a man suffering from a gunshot wound outside the Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital in Allapattah.

Police officers reported finding a man with a gunshot wound to the head in the parked SUV along Northwest 17th Street, near 10th Avenue, west of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

Miami Fire Rescue personnel took the man to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, just around the corner.

Despite the victim being found in the area, police said the shooting did not occur near the hospital.
