MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman from southwest Miami-Dade was arrested Tuesday for planting two GPS devices on a vehicle belonging to the mistress of her friend’s husband, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, Lourdes Garcia Mesquida, 53, was spotted walking around the victim’s car – a white 2022 Chevrolet – on Sept. 14 in the area of 12010 SW Eighth St.

Miami-Dade police said the victim became aware of the suspicious incident the following day and checked the exterior of her car, finding a Spytec GPS tracker attached underneath her vehicle.

Police said the victim removed the tracker, but Garcia Mesquida was once again spotted on Sept. 18 walking around the victim’s car and placing an unknown object underneath it.

According to the arrest report, a witness confronted Garcia Mesquida, who claimed to have been confused and said a friend had sent her to look for a car because she had been cheated on.

Police said the victim removed the second tracker as the witness recorded the confrontation with Garcia Mesquida.

Both incidents were also captured on surveillance video, authorities said.

Police said the victim showed the video to her “boyfriend who is married,” and he identified Garcia Mesquida as a friend of his wife.

She was taken into custody Tuesday on an aggravated stalking charge.

Police said she invoked her rights and did not provide a statement to them.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Garcia Mesquida was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond.
