Woman had nearly $2M in fake designer jewelry seized from Lauderhill Mall kiosk, police say

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A woman turned herself in at the Broward County Courthouse on Monday after authorities said she was selling fake designer jewelry out of the Lauderhill Mall.

Police say the jewelry, carrying the names of brands like Chanel, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Rolex, would have been worth $1.6 million if it were real.

Ok Yon So, 70, of Davie, is facing a felony charge of selling counterfeit goods worth more than $20,000.

According to an arrest report, the charge comes after Lauderhill police executed a search warrant at the Sharon Jewelry kiosk at the mall, located at 1317 N. State Road 7, on March 13.

Authorities said they seized nearly 250 pieces of suspected counterfeit jewelry, as well as more than $20,000 in cash. They said that following the raid, So admitted to selling fake goods.

The search came after a private investigator working on behalf of Chanel contacted police, the report states.

Authorities said Chanel had given Sharon Jewelry a cease-and-desist notice in 2020.

Undercover detectives, police say, made a series of purchases, including a fake Van Cleef & Arpels necklace for $100 that would carry a retail value of $8,400 if it were real.

So was not listed in Broward jail records as of Tuesday morning.
