Man arrested in connection with 2021 Broward shootout

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday, nearly three years after a shootout that occurred in Lauderhill.

Records show Aaron Polk is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Dec. 22, 2021, shooting.

According to an arrest warrant from the Lauderhill Police Department, Polk, Devin Howard and Aziyah Sumpter were involved in the shootout that occurred in the 5300 block of Northwest 18th Court.

Police said people inside two vehicles were shooting at each other before a white BMW struck a light pole.

First responders arrived at the scene to find one victim inside the vehicle who had been shot.

The victim was transported to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale in critical condition, but later died.

The victim’s identity and the motive for the shooting were not stated in the arrest warrant.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Polk was being held at the Broward County Main Jail without bond.
