According to a BSO arrest report, the investigation into Jean began in April after the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about Google’s discovery.
Google reported that Jean uploaded a lewd photo collage of a 10-year-old girl to his Google Drive account, the report states.
Deputies said that Jean, born in France, used the online handle “Capitaine Crochet,” the French name of “Peter Pan” character Captain Hook.
Authorities said they would later find “more than 100 files” of child sexual abuse material in his Google Drive account, all depicting girls between the ages of 8 and 12. They said they found an additional 40 files of what they described as “child erotica.”
The report states that authorities also found a screen recording of a non-illicit WhatsApp video call between Jean and a woman.
Deputies said it established his ownership of the account and Jean’s wife confirmed his identity in the video. Additionally, they said the name of his cellphone was also “Capitaine Crochet.”
Authorities said they seized additional electronic devices from Jean’s Pinehurst Trail home and are reviewing them.
As of Friday, Jean was being held in the BSO Main Jail on a $110,000 bond.
