2 dead, 1 detained after house fire in Miami-Dade’s Brownsville area

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two people died and a person was detained after a house fire occurred on Friday morning in Miami-Dade County’s Brownsville neighborhood.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the house near the 1900 block of Northwest 53 Street. A man and woman died at the hospital after going into cardiac arrest, according to fire rescue.

Fire rescue personnel also took a third person injured to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert.

6 p.m. report:

Jorge Marin, who lived in the home, explained to Local 10 News the large flames he saw when he opened his door.

He said one of the other people who lived there was trying to knock down his door, but he couldn’t get out.

Neighbors were awakened right up by the sound of sirens.

Investigators have not released the names of the two victims but Local 10 News has learned that the other people who lived there were questioned by detectives.

Sources told Local 10 News the fire seems suspicious.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene when a man was placed in handcuffs. Police have not disclosed how he is connected to the incident.
