Authorities investigating after construction worker killed in Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Police are investigating the death of construction worker in Miami Beach Thursday morning.

A Miami Beach Fire Rescue spokesperson said medics responded to the scene of a “construction worker fatality” near 74th Street and Ocean Terrace, on North Beach, just before 11:30 a.m.

Miami Beach Police identified the victim Thursday as 45-year-old Pedro Elvir Maldonado.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene where Miami Beach police were investigating the area and blocked some construction equipment off with crime scene tape.

5 p.m. report:

Multiple construction workers appeared to be upset over the incident but declined to comment.

Authorities said the victim was transported to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Authorities said one northbound lane on Collins Avenue and 74th Street has been temporarily closed as authorities investigate the incident. Authorities have not provided details about what occurred.
