SWAT officers respond to barricaded subject following alleged robbery in Liberty City

MIAMI – Miami police and SWAT officers responded to an apartment complex in Liberty City Tuesday after they said a robbery suspect barricaded himself inside a building.

The incident was reported near Northwest 67th Street and 13th Avenue at the Liberty Square apartment complex.

According to Officer Kiara Delva, a spokeswoman for the Miami Police Department, MPD’s Felony Apprehension Team was serving a warrant in the area when they said the suspect refused to exit the residence.

The situation has led to a significant police presence, with officers blocking off multiple streets around the complex, according to Local 10′s Annaliese Garcia.

Sky 10 footage shows the large perimeter police have established, with SWAT officers stationed on nearly every corner.

While the standoff continues, one man has been taken into custody, though it remains unclear how he is connected to the incident.

Police have yet to release further details about the suspect still inside the building.

Authorities are urging caution as children walking home from school and other pedestrians remain in the area. The investigation is ongoing.

No other information has been released at this time.
