FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Local 10 News obtained surveillance video on Tuesday showing the moments authorities said a man was shot dead early Monday morning inside a Mexican restaurant in Fort Lauderdale.

The shooting was reported just before 1:30 a.m. at Antojitos Mexicanos, located at 3943 Davie Blvd.

According to Ali Adamson, a detective with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, officers arrived at the scene to find a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told Local 10 News that the victim and suspect appeared to have been involved in a verbal dispute that escalated over a song that was playing on a jukebox inside the restaurant.

Surveillance footage showed a man in a red long-sleeve shirt and cowboy hat appearing to argue with the victim near the bar of the restaurant.

Moments later, the victim pushed the culprit, who fell to the ground and fired a shot while sitting. The culprit then fired multiple shots as the victim sought safety behind the bar, hitting him again, investigators said. No arrests have been made at this time.

A Local 10 News crew was outside the restaurant later in the morning as the victim’s body was covered with a sheet inside the business.

The body was then wheeled out of the restaurant and transported to the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Adamson said the victim’s identity is not being released at this time due to the status of the investigation, however a man named Julian Camacho told Local 10 that he and others went to the scene looking for his brother, Camacho Soccoro, after he failed to come home from the restaurant.

11 p.m. report

Julian Camacho said they went to his home and a hospital before arriving at the restaurant and speaking with a detective who told him there’s an 80 percent chance that the victim is his brother.

Julian Camacho said he left but came back around 10 a.m. and noticed his brother’s work truck parked in the back.

He said he’s hopeful the suspect is arrested.

“Only thing I say is please arrest the suspect,” Julian Camacho said.

Police have also not disclosed if the victim and culprit were known to each other.

Anyone with information is urged to call Fort Lauderdale police at 954-828-5700 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
