Her boyfriend, Leslie Boileau, a Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputy, called 911 to report the shooting was accidental.

“I know this looks bad,” he allegedly told police officers.

According to the Ocala Police Department, Boileau, 32, told police officers the shooting happened while they were both cleaning and dry-firing weapons at home.

“Polina was the most loving and caring person that we know; she was a beam of light to all that knew her,” Julia Dawson wrote on Facebook.

The shooting was on Thursday night. Detectives seized a 9mm Glock they found on Wright’s lap and a rifle that was on the dining table.

Police officers arrested Boileau and Martin County prosecutors charged him with manslaughter.

Boileau made his first court appearance in county court on Saturday.

The Ocala Gazette reported Boileau lost his job with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office after about eight years of service. The Ocala Star Banner reported Martin County Circuit Judge Stacy Youmans set the former deputy’s bond at $30,000.

Family and friends are planning a memorial service for Wright on Friday at the Seven Rivers Church in Lecanto.
