Man seriously hurt after equipment falls on him at Deerfield Beach warehouse

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A man was severely injured in an industrial accident in Deerfield Beach Thursday afternoon when a piece of vending machine equipment fell on him, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue.

The incident occurred at a warehouse near the 1000 block of Northwest Sixth Street.

BSFR Battalion Chief Michael Kane said the man was transported to North Broward Hospital as a trauma alert.

Sky 10 captured aerial footage of a crime scene surrounded by tape, with several Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies on site next to a loading dock bearing the markings of SHL Group, a Swiss company that specializes in the “design, development, and manufacture of autoinjectors, pen injectors and drug delivery devices,” according to its website.

Authorities were focusing on a pallet truck that carried a vending machine, which appeared to be damaged and on its side.

Authorities did not disclose the man’s age or identity and the circumstances of how the incident occurred.
