MIAMI – A dispute over an electric vehicle parking space somehow devolved into an armed robbery at the River Landing complex in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood early Monday evening, leading to the arrest of a man who lives there, according to police.
Police said a woman reported that she drove up to the fourth floor of the complex, located at 1500 NW N. River Drive, to park her electric vehicle in an EV-only parking space and ended up parking next to David Rodriguez, who was in the space. An arrest report doesn’t state whether the woman also lives in the building.

Authorities said a verbal argument ensued and escalated after Rodriguez, 54, pulled out a gun from his waistband, pointed it at the woman and demanded her backpack.
The report states that Rodriguez “snatched the backpack” from her at gunpoint as the woman held her hands up.
Police said the woman got in her car, left and flagged down a Miami police officer on the street. The report states that as she gave her statement to the officer, she saw Rodriguez and pointed him out.
Officers detained Rodriguez and the report states he was armed with a Glock 43 pistol.
Authorities said Rodriguez spoke to detectives and made a confession, which was redacted from the arrest report.
After his arrest on an armed robbery charge, Rodriguez was being held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Tuesday afternoon.
