POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Two people were injured Tuesday following a two-vehicle crash in Pompano Beach that sent one of the vehicles into a nearby bank, authorities said.
The crash was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of East Atlantic Boulevard.
Sky 10 was above the scene about an hour later as one of the cars, which was heavily damaged, was in the bushes outside the bank.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that two cars, a BMW and a Toyota, collided,” Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesman Carey Codd wrote in a news release. “The impact of the collision forced the Toyota into a nearby bank building.”
According to Codd, the driver of the Toyota suffered injuries that are possibly life threatening.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue officials later confirmed that the Toyota had been T-boned, and the male driver had be be extracted from the car by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue. He was transported in critical condition to Broward Health North.
Officials said a boy who was a passenger in the other car was also transported to Broward Health North with minor injuries.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing.
