Police said detectives reviewed surveillance video and saw the suspect, Eric Gerod Robinson, of Miami, walking through the hallways of the building, pulling on numerous door handles to see if any apartment units were unlocked.

According to arrest reports, Robinson entered multiple unlocked apartments and took cash, purses, credit cards, watches, jewelry and electronics.

Police said he also met one victim in the elevator of the building who showed Robinson his rental vehicle and even took him for a drive in it.

According to police, Robinson then inquired about the victim’s gold chain, which is worth $1,500, and asked if he could see it.

Police said the victim took off his chain and handed it to Robinson, who then took off running.

According to the arrest reports, the property manager of the building advised police that the front desk security staff has seen Robinson entering the building through the front entrance of the property and said he even shared his Instagram account with them, which helped police identify and locate him.

Robinson was located Wednesday and arrested on 11 counts of occupied burglary and four counts of third-degree grand theft.

According to the arrest reports, Robinson used some of the stolen credit cards to make purchases at Westland Mall in Hialeah.

As of Thursday afternoon, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond had yet to be set.
