MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A Miami-Dade County man kept images of several child sexual abuse victims, including one as young as under two years old, according to police.
Detectives reported identifying 15 files showing the abuse of toddlers, preschoolers, and girls ages 7 to 12 years old that Erick Paniagua had either downloaded or uploaded.
Paniagua, 29, used Skiff, an end-to-end encrypted e-mail service, and Kik, an instant messaging app, to avoid detection, according to a police arrest report.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Miami-Dade detectives investigated Paniagua after Kik reported the account’s activity to The National Center For Missing & Exploited Children.
Miami-Dade police officers arrested Paniagua on Wednesday at a house along Southwest 173rd Street, near 144 Court, in the Richmond West neighborhood.
County inmate records show Paniagua remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Thursday facing 15 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child.
