The seizure came as the result of three separate interdictions by the Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations and Britain’s Royal Navy.

According to a Coast Guard news release, authorities also apprehended 11 smugglers.

“Their steadfast efforts, along with those of foreign allies and partner agencies, continue to prove vital to countering drug trafficking organizations and safeguarding the people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands,” Lt. Matthew Carmine, the commanding officer of Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Napier, which participated in the effort, said in the news release.

Closer to shore, federal agents announced the arrests of 27 people, including a South Florida boat racing team owner, in a major cocaine trafficking bust on Friday.
