Video shows panic during shooting that injured 5 in Miami Gardens

Police officers respond to Omega Activity Center

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Surveillance video shows the panic during a shooting that injured five people on Saturday night in Miami Gardens.

Police officers and fire rescue personnel responded to the Omega Activity Center, a fraternal organization at the corner of Northwest 156th Street and 42nd Avenue, next to Florida Memorial University and north of the Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport.

An FMU student who lives nearby said she heard 15-20 gunshots. According to the Miami Gardens Police Department, the shooting followed an argument between two women and police officers detained one person of interest.

5 p.m. report:

Neighbors said they have had disturbances related to the center before. Miami-Dade County property records show that a Florida corporation owns the center used as a club and event hall.

Police said multiple arrests are expected to be made and they do not believe there is any additional threat to the community.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
