TAVERNIER, Fla. – Deputies in the Florida Keys arrested a 65-year-old man Friday afternoon on a child sexual abuse charge; they said it’s the first of what will likely be more criminal counts to come.

Richard Hayward Eddins, of Tavernier, is facing one count of lewd and lascivious behavior on a child less than 12 years old, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office announced.

“Eddins was arrested following a search warrant at a Tavernier residence on Harbor Drive in which several pieces of electronic equipment and storage devices were seized,” MCSO spokesperson Adam Linhardt said in a news release.

Authorities noted that Eddins is known to have “an established presence on the Internet and social media platforms” and said “more charges are expected.”

They did not provide any additional details about the allegations Friday. Local 10 News has requested a copy of Eddins’ arrest report.

Linhardt said anyone with information on Eddins, who was booked into jail on a $200,000 bond, is asked to call MCSO at 305-289-2410.
