According to ESPN, Ramsey is set to earn $55.3 million starting this season, which will make him the highest-paid cornerback in league history in terms of career earnings.
When asked about Ramsey’s new extension at a press conference Friday, McDaniel said, “I think he (Ramsey) fits the mold of what we’re looking for. The players are happy to be here and we’re happy to see them get taken care of on the books.”
Ramsey, 29, who has missed practice due to an apparent hamstring injury made his return to the field Friday ahead of Miami’s Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is expected to practice in “some capacity,” McDaniel said.

While Miami hasn’t confirmed if Ramsey will play in the Jaguars game, defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver told reporters Thursday that the team will focus on the All-Pro corner’s load management since the Dolphins will also host the Buffalo Bills in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football.
The seven-time Pro-Bowler recorded three interceptions and five pass breakups in 10 games played during his debut season for the Dolphins in 2023, good for a 52.9 passer rating when opposing quarterbacks dared to throw his way, according to Pro Football Focus.
The Dolphins are hoping Ramsey will ramp up his practice on Friday so he can play in Sunday’s game when the team hosts the Jaguars at 1 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium.
