A northwest Miami-Dade man fired multiple gunshots at a tow truck driver while his car was being repossessed back in June, according to police. Authorities found him in an Indianapolis suburb two months later. He’s now back in South Florida to face charges.
According to an arrest report, the initial incident occurred on July 31 at approximately 9:25 p.m. when Miami-Dade police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Northeast 160th Terrace in the Intracoastal District.

Investigators said the victim was working as a tow truck driver for Heat Recovery & Towing and had been attempting to repossess Rony Guerrier’s 2018 silver Lexus NX300.
Authorities said the driver located the Lexus using license plate reader technology and backed his tow truck up to begin hooking the car.
It wasn’t until he started the repossession process that he realized Guerrier, 34, was sitting inside the car.
Shortly after Guerrier exited the Lexus, the victim identified himself as a repossession agent, explaining to Guerrier that the car was being repossessed at the request of the lienholder.
Investigators said the situation escalated after the victim told police that Guerrier fired a gunshot which made him retreat to his truck.
Police said the victim feared Guerrier might attempt to shoot again, so he lowered the Lexus back to the ground and began driving away.
However, as the victim was fleeing the scene in his tow truck, detectives said Guerrier pursued him in the Lexus.
While following the victim in his car, Guerrier fired a second shot directly at the tow truck. Authorities said the tow truck was equipped with CCTV video, which investigators said captured the entire confrontation, including the gunfire.
By the time Miami-Dade police arrived, Guerrier and the Lexus were no longer at the scene, according to the report. Police said the victim did not sustain any injuries and his truck was not hit by any bullets during the incident.
The investigation into Guerrier’s identity and whereabouts was quickly launched, with his car entered into the national law enforcement database as a “felony vehicle,” the report stated.
Two days later, on Aug. 2, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Speedway, Indiana police said they located Guerrier’s 2018 Lexus NX300 in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the area and took Guerrier into custody without incident.
During the arrest, police discovered that Guerrier had made an effort to alter his appearance by cutting off his medium-length dreadlocks, but confirmed they found a bag containing his discarded hair in the Lexus.
Additionally, a search of the car revealed a Los Angeles Lakers jersey that Guerrier had worn during the Miami-Dade incident, further confirming his identity, investigators said.
Although a gun was not found in the Lexus, investigators said they located 9mm ammunition and a holster.
Detectives said Guerrier later told police that he had pawned the gun to finance his trip out of Florida.
After being read his Miranda rights, Guerrier admitted to selling the weapon at a Gainesville pawn shop on Aug. 1.
The gun, a 9 mm Glock Model 17, was flagged by authorities and is currently being held as evidence for forensic comparison with a 9mm shell casing recovered from the crime scene, investigators confirmed.
Jail records show Guerrier is facing one count each of second-degree attempted murder, shooting or throwing a deadly missile and tampering with physical evidence.
Guerrier was extradited to Miami-Dade County to face prosecution and was formally arrested Wednesday. As of Thursday, he is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond has not yet been determined.
