Burglars cut off power at several Miami-Dade houses targeted on Labor Day weekend

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Detectives are investigating several home burglaries during the Labor Day weekend in Coral Gables, South Miami, Pinecrest, and other Miami-Dade County neighborhoods.

The serial burglars knew the residents were not home. They took safes, jewelry, and luxury goods, but did not vandalize the homes.

A woman who lives in Coral Gables said that when she returned from her vacation she couldn’t open the garage door and her sliding glass door was unlocked. The power was out.

A family in South Miami experienced a similar nightmare. They also found the burglars had cut off their power and deactivated surveillance cameras and alarm systems.

Detectives want residents to remember they can request a watch order on their homes when they go out of town so patrol officers can be more vigilant.
