DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – An 11-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after a bomb threat was made against a school in Deerfield Beach, authorities confirmed.
According to Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis, the child was booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center and is being charged with one count of false report of a bomb, explosive or weapon of mass destruction.

Authorities confirmed that the threat was phoned in Wednesday morning to Summerset Key Academy Middle/High School, located at 959 SE Sixth Ave.
Sky 10 was above the school shortly before 12:30 p.m. as students were waiting in the parking lot.
The all clear was given shortly later and students returned to class.
“BSO reminds the public that making school threats is no joke,” St. Louis said in an email to Local 10 News. “Under Florida law, whether it is said aloud, written in text, or posted on social media, an individual can be charged with a felony for written threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting.”
