MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel gave the latest update on edge defender Jaelan Phillips’ playing status while speaking at a press conference on Wednesday.
McDaniel confirmed that Phillips will make his return to the field when Miami hosts the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, but will be on a snap count.

This will be his first game since his Achilles tear against the New York Jets on the NFL’s first-ever Black Friday game on Nov. 24. in Week 12.
The star edge rusher has been inching closer to a return since being activated off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list in mid-August.
Phillips, 25, who was a first-round pick in 2021 and played part of his college ball as a Miami Hurricane, recorded 43 tackles and 6.5 sacks before his season-ending injury.
Although Phillips missed most of the season, he was on pace for a career-high in sacks, tackles and penalties drawn.
Kickoff for Fins-Jags is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.
