BSO: All clear given after Deerfield Beach school evacuated due to ‘possible bomb threat’

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Students and staff were evacuated Wednesday from a school in Deerfield Beach after a “possible bomb threat” was phoned in, authorities said.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the possible threat was reported at 11:34 a.m. at Summerset Key Academy Middle/High School, located at 959 SE Sixth Ave.

Sky 10 was above the school shortly before 12:30 p.m. as students were waiting in the parking lot.

“Broward Sheriff Office deputies and detectives with BSO Threat Management Unit have responded and are actively investigating the incident,” a BSO spokesperson said in an email to Local 10 News.

Authorities later confirmed that the all clear had been given and students had returned to class.

The investigation continues.

No other details were immediately released.
