Opa-locka man tried to force sex act at knifepoint during home invasion robbery, police say

Ichemith Joseph (MDCR)

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – An Opa-locka man is facing multiple charges after authorities said he broke into a woman’s apartment in the city, robbed her at knifepoint and then tried to force her to perform a sex act on him. Police said she was able to escape.

Authorities said Ichemith Gregoire Joseph II is also suspected in another home invasion with the “same modus operandi.”

They arrested the 23-year-old on Friday.

Police said the first home invasion happened on the morning of Aug. 23. Officials redacted the incident location from the Opa-locka Police Department report.

Authorities said at around 6:40 a.m., the victim’s husband noticed the doors of his vehicle were left open before leaving for work.

The report states that the woman denied opening them and both she and her husband walked around the home but couldn’t find anyone in the yard or near their vehicle.

Authorities said after her husband left for work, she heard someone banging on the door and window. She ignored it, but a short time later, police said Joseph, a stranger, came through her window.

The report states that Joseph, wielding a blue knife, told the woman, “Give me everything you got.”

After giving him $100, police said the man pulled down his pants, exposed himself and told the woman, “Suck my d---.”

Authorities said the woman refused to perform any sex acts on Joseph. At that point, police said he “got behind her, grabbed her and placed the knife to the left side of her neck” and told her to “go lay on the bed.”

“Again, the victim refused and she pushed the suspect and the knife away from her throat and began screaming,” the report states. “The victim then ran from the residence and towards the rear door of the main residence and began banging on the door screaming for help.”

Authorities said Joseph fled and the woman suffered a cut to her right ring finger from the knife.

Police said Joseph is suspected of a similar home invasion three days later, though details on the Aug. 26 incident weren’t immediately available.

Authorities said they were able to locate Joseph at his apartment in the 1200 block of Sharazad Boulevard Friday and took him into custody.

Police said he “provided a detailed account of the armed home invasion robberies and voluntarily wrote a statement.”

Joseph, facing charges including home invasion robbery, lewd and lascivious battery and false imprisonment, was being held without bond in the Metro West Detention Center as of Tuesday afternoon.
