MIAMI – As the saying goes, when you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.
“It’s not my first time traveling for Labor Day, so I knew the crowd would be more than the usual at the airport,” said traveler Jenika Laporte.
Nearly 600,000 passengers have clogged up the security checkpoints at Miami International Airport since Thursday, which, according to airport officials, is a 5% jump over the same time last year.
The airport expects to see another 150,000 on Monday as summer vacation unofficially comes to an end.
TSA anticipates screening around 17 million passengers over the Labor Day holiday period, making this year the busiest Labor Day holiday ever.
Inclement weather impacted some flights on Sunday, but just about everything was showing on time on the boards Monday morning.
Hopefully, things will continue to be smooth flying.
At last check, things up at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport were busy, just the same.
Out of the roads, AAA anticipates nearly 10% more drivers as lots of people are on the move this holiday.
