MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating a fatal ATV accident that occurred Thursday afternoon in southwest Miami-Dade.
According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials, crews responded to the area of Southwest 112th Street and 157th Avenue just after 1 p.m. after receiving reports about people in distress in a canal.

Police later confirmed that two women were riding an ATV when they lost control and ended up in a canal.
Natalia Delgado her boyfriend and two children heard the commotion and ran to the canal behind their home.
Delgado said they slid their backyard latter into the water to help them.
One of the women made it out.
“She was screaming, ‘My prima, my prima, my prima,’ and we were looking and we couldn’t barely see anything under the water,” said Delgado. “Everything happened so fast.”
Cell phone video recorded the desperate rescue as first responders pulling the second victim out of the water and began performing CPR.
Police said one victim was treated at the scene while the other was transported to a local hospital, where she died.
No other details about the accident were immediately released.
